What is soul retrieval?

Simplified, soul retrieval refers to a process in which healing is brought by reactivating or returning a quantum of our own personal energy back to us.

If we need to bring back a quantum of energy, this suggests that it is not with us for some reason (actually, many possible reasons).

To better understand what this means, we first need to ask: What is a healthy walk in life?

Shamanic perspectives suggest that a healed state of being is walking our life—whole.

Whole?

Whole is a state in which all our energy is ours, and with us. Thus, our walk in life is informed by our energy.

Visually, think of our body as cheese. Some types have holes within them, and others don’t. We want our energy field to not have any holes. We also don’t want to have any mold anywhere. Various types of herbs, or other additions added to cheese, are also unwanted. We wish to be who we are and only who we are. There is no place for anything that is not ours within our field.

An image showing the luminous energetic field around us. One is whole, and the other has holes (e.g., deactivated areas).

A healthy whole state is also characterized by our various layers of being: physical, emotional, mental, and energetic-spiritual, all being aligned. Or, more commonly, knowing how to dance together to become aligned.

The noise around us is so tremendous, starting from the devices we all carry in our pockets or don’t let go from our hands, that for most of us, it’s not about being aligned, but about knowing how to realign our bodies, sometimes even a few times during each day, and return them to their harmonious state.

Soul retrieval is one of many energetic interventions that can help fill in the holes we have in our energy field, thus allowing us and our children to walk life more aligned, healthy, and whole.

A lot has been written about soul retrieval. See two recommended books about soul retrieval.

In this post, I hope to clarify all the basics needed to understand soul retrieval with children and teens.

"Soul retrieval is one of many energetic interventions that can help fill in the holes we have in our energy field, thus allowing us and our children to walk life more aligned, healthy, and whole."

Soul Retrieval is part of Energy Healing.

Energy healing is a broad term encompassing references to many modalities and layers of our walk. Soul retrieval is one of these modalities and is a healing process aimed at healing our energy body.

How we define healing affects the healed state we will seek.

Do we wish to cure a physical illness? A wound? A cut or bruise?

Is it an emotional pain or memory we wish to overcome?

Are we seeking forgiveness from another? To forgive another? Or to forgive ourselves?

Or are we trying to look inward and develop peace in our walk? Or passion?

Energetic perspectives suggest that a healed state is one in which an individual’s energy field is whole—allowing that individual to walk life from a balanced state. A harmonious state. A state in which one can enjoy life, be productive in the gifts they share in reciprocity with others, and manifest their soul’s journey.

Thus, a healed state is not necessarily a healed physical state. One can be very sick physically or walk with a chronic illness that serves the soul in the healing it wishes to offer itself or others.

When I meet clients who are dealing with severe illnesses, which may be fatal, family members, if involved, often wish to facilitate a physically healed state. They understandably do not wish to lose their loved ones.

From an energetic perspective, working at the layer of the soul, often, a fatal illness is an opportunity for the soul to heal some aspects it has not managed to before or without the illness. Tremendous healing can take place, although our loved one will still not stay here with us.

Deepening our understanding of Soul Retrieval

What causes holes in our energy field?

First, following the cheese metaphor, I am using the word holes. These are not necessarily literal holes, although some may envision them this way.

Many reasons, completely beyond the scope of this article, cause our energy field to be unhealthy and whole. Among them are unhealthy lifestyle habits, and stress.

Our children pick up on unhealthy habits from an early age when they are exposed to us, their parents, not eating well, not exercising, getting mad on the road, constantly on our phones or working. These examples and many others are appearances of unbalanced lives. When we walk our life, in an unbalanced manner, of any sort, our energy field is affected, and our children pick this up as well.

The imbalance can also stem from deeper unresolved issues. Issues we carry from this lifetime, and possibly also from other/parallel lifetimes. Those from past/parallel lifetimes bring themselves to our awareness only if their healing will help us in our current journey. Any issue we need to resolve will also show itself in our energy field. Sometimes long before we feel it in our physical being.

…

Trauma and soul retrieval

The most talked about explanation for these symbolic holes in our energy field is often described as soul loss caused by a traumatic event.

Some events are considered traumatic to almost everyone: war, rape, and violence.

Yet, a situation where a sensitive child is only an observer of violent language, or a fight between two other children, if experienced as subjectively traumatic to that child, can also be a situation that will cause soul loss.

A soul loss can occur when a child is bullied and also when another unrelated child watches the bullying take place. It can also happen when the bully behaves aggressively toward another child, but its soul knows he is doing wrong and is not behaving aligned with its pure essence.

Soul loss can happen when a child is hungry or when they see those whom they love struggle.

There are many possible events creating soul loss. Traumatic events should be defined as such, very subjectively. We differ in how we experience the same events, and thus soul loss.

What does it mean to have a soul part lost?

In its essence, our soul knows purity. Love, creativity, and it is trusting and innocent.

When our soul—any soul, as all souls are pure love in their essence and beginning—when our soul experiences something that it knows is wrong, it shivers. It contracts. We might not feel it physically or be aware of it. But our soul knows.

Any action, thought, or feeling unaligned to who we are in our essence, and how we wish to walk life, increases our chances of soul loss in subjectively traumatic events.

Unsafe environments around our children and environments that do not allow them to walk who they are, create the same effect for them.

And any of these events can result in soul loss.

"...When soul loss occurs, a little piece of our energy becomes deactivated. In most families’ lives, full of activities, mostly with no time to rest or have enough quiet, connected time, soul loss occurs daily. We are exposed to troubling news, violence, stress, and an overload of information and triggers. None are aligned with our soul’s growth wishes, nor to our children’s. It’s tiny and unfelt pieces that stop informing us. We notice them when we are overwhelmed and wondering where we lost our creativity or joy..."

Is soul loss always dramatic and significant?

When soul loss occurs, a little piece of our energy becomes deactivated.

We notice them when we are overwhelmed and wondering where we lost our creativity or joy.

We notice our soul loss after it gains momentum. When the little, seemingly insignificant, pieces accumulated into too many.

Yes. Significant trauma (subjectively traumatic events) almost always results in significant soul loss. Yet, we should be aware, and this often happens with children, that little events (for example, visiting daily in an unhealthy school environment), when they accumulate, create soul loss as well. Sometimes, much more severe.

And when we suffer from significant soul loss, our ability to walk life as we wish to, whole and joyful, is impaired.

Possible solutions to soul loss

Many possible solutions and healing modalities help us step back into walking whole and retrieving our soul fragments.

Have a soul retrieval mediated by a professional

All humans and all children can benefit from soul retrieval mediated by a professional in energy healing. But before this, you can implement many solutions on your own: try them first!
That said, if you or your children did suffer a significantly traumatic event, do get the help of professionals. From both conventional and energetic professionals.

Also, if you or your child suffered a significantly traumatic event, and tried many modalities of healing to find you only partially improved, then possibly, you resolved the issue. However, you still need to reactivate them energetically. Usually, this can be done in one session, and you will feel the difference.

Become aware

Become aware of the unaligned elements of your life, and your children’s lives. When we are aware, even if we still have to deal with that same stressful boss, or an unkind child in our class, we can often be more compassionate to them, and thus also to ourselves. We might learn to ignore or take events less personally, thus reducing the extent of the soul loss we experience.

"Become aware of the unaligned elements of your life, and your children’s lives. When we are aware, even if we still have to deal with that same stressful boss, or an unkind child in our class, we can often be more compassionate to them, and thus also to ourselves"

Choose to heal, and soul parts will reactivate themselves

Sometimes soul parts come back/reactivate naturally. Our body and our soul have an amazing ability to self-heal. Once we allow it to happen, walk with awareness, and make lifestyle choices that enhance our healing and walk as who we are, and as who are children are, natural healing takes place, including the reactivation of hidden soul parts.

Healing is always multilayer. As we heal in the physical level, we also heal at our emotional and soul level. We heal at our energetic level, and this drops down to our physical level.
Any choice you take toward healing communicates to your soul that you are healing and invites it to have its say, and further guide you.

My work with my clients, especially children and teens, taught me that there are many ways to nurture our energy field and guide our children on nourishing their field and ways to invite soul parts back, and reactivate them.
