We All Need Reminders – A Mythical Healing Story

We all need reminders-A Mythical Healing Story

This story is a healing story about small reminders. The first section (in italics) in this healing story can also be shared with very young children. The rest of it depends on age and your child’s sensitivity. As always, self-reference.

A moment before reading…

Children love stories. We, parents, love them too. A story becomes a healing story when it touches one’s heart and awakens the child’s inherent knowing and abilities. The ones that came with them when they decided to come to Earth. It is not intended to evoke awareness or conscious remembering. It is merely a soft touch. By sharing it as a story, the child can relate to the parts that have some meaning for them. You can share such stories just before your child goes to sleep or at any time of the day. Many children enjoy drawing what comes up for them. Older ones, who enjoy writing, can take it and develop such images into longer stories. Feel free to share this image/story in your own words, allowing little alterations that may come from your heart and that will mold the story to your own children.

Receiving and offering such stories is a relatively simple act. Your intention is the essential aspect of it. If you wish to learn how to craft such stories on your own, read this article.

Once upon a time, there was a little girl…

Once upon a time, there was a little girl. She lived in a small earthen house close to a small stream. Every morning, she would run down to the stream, splash water over her face, and enjoy the new day. She would look at the pebbles in the water, fascinated by their slight, almost unseen movements. She would whisper to a few special ones her blessings for that day. Summer or winter, she would put her little hands into the water, close her eyes, and for a moment, become one with the stream. When she did this, she would feel the soft brush of the water on her hands bubble into her whole small body. It filled her with calmness, joy, and the knowing of the day to come.

On some days, she would also run down to the stream as soon as she and her brother arrived home. Often, her brother would bother her. Laughing at her. He would stand in her way. Try to convince their mom that she should not go there alone, and more.

The girl was irritated by her brother’s behavior. “I don’t get it,” she would whisper to the pebbles. “When we were younger, he was the one who secretly told me about your magic. What changed?”

The pebbles did not answer. They sadly absorbed her frustration. The steam delicately washed away her pain and sadness. “You, keep trusting what you know,” they would all silently communicate to her.

One day, her brother said nothing when they came home. He did not stand in her way. He did not have any insulting words. They got home. He went to his room. And she was free to run down to her stream. So she did. Skipping her way. Filled with joy. Until she reached the stream and felt it, the pebbles trying to get her attention. “What’s wrong?” she asked them. They were quiet. Then one pebble seemed to move into her hand. “Take me to your brother,” it told her.

So she did. She walked home and knocked on the door to her brother’s room. “Go away!” he shouted. She looked at the pebble. Then, as the pebble asked, she placed it by his door and walked away.

That afternoon, her brother asked her to come down to the stream with him. She was surprised but would never say no to another visit to her favorite place. They walked quietly. When they got there, her brother placed the pebble precisely where it always was and said, “Thanks for reminding me, little sis.”
