Next to a soft stream, a Frog jumps by the edge of a forest, calling his pond friends for a story. They all gather. Birds from above. Fish from below. Even Dela, the serpent, arises slowly to listen. There is nothing like frog’s stories. He waits for all of his neighbors to quiet down, and then he begins.
Once there was a good-hearted soul. It watched from above both the beauty and the complexity of life on Earth. It was often wondering about the human’s choices. So loving was this soul that it asked if it could come down to Earth and reach a hand. “Are you sure?” asked its guides? “Yes, I am,” it said.
And so they carved its journey here. At last, asking it what kind of kid it would like to be. The soul observed from above, looked around, checked many options, and then pointed to a boy and said, “like him.” Its guides wondered. “Are you sure?” they asked. “He is not a nice boy, and you asked to bring love and healing to Earth. “I know,” said the soul. “I’m sure.”
Time went by, and the preparations for its journey reached their final stages. Sitting by the river of time, it was given a choice to regret. Souls, preparing next to it, were surprised. But it was sure.
“Why?” asked a friend who was about to come to earth on the same day as it did. It sat quietly and then asked, “don’t you see?”, “I do,” its friend replied after a few quiet moments. “It is not going to be easy for you,” it said, and after a few more silent moments, asked, “is there any way I can help?” “Yes,” was the answer. “When I turn fifteen, be the one who sees through me. Be the one who reflects the light within me. Then I will be less scared of losing sight of who I am and the reasons for my journey.”
Years went by, and the beautiful soul struggled in the harsh family she chose, managing its way by becoming the school’s bully. Walking pain, and anger and fear. Then, on his fifteenth birthday, just before the school was about to kick him out, a new boy moved to town. And as soon as one saw the other, light birthed out of both. Silently reminding each of why they came to Earth and why they asked to be who they grow up to be.
Fifteen years later, after lots of personal healing, the bully finally reached his moment of giving. Knowing from first-hand experience what are the kids he guides go through. Reaching out and lighting the way to the many beautiful souls wishing to walk their light.
All of Frog’s neighbors were quiet, unsure if this story makes them accept the humans coming to their park, more or less. Then, one of the fish living in the pond asked the Frog, “so what is the point of this story of humans?” Frog looked at him and replied, “you, too, are light.”
Healing stories are a magnificent and fun tool, connecting and bridging worlds.
