Contents

This list of spiritual (beyond religion) books for children was created based on recommendations my community members offered.

I asked what books they have and would recommend to others.

The following list is an assortment of their recommendations.

I intentionally did not check the books… first, because I have my own preferences. I don’t like strong colors in the illustrations, and prefer the whole setting to be calm and quiet. I like certain levels of depth, and I can be very critical when it comes to what we offer our children.

However, and this is my second reason… we each have our preferences. We each have our sensitivities. And you might not like a book I will, and that book is still a powerful tool and offering. The opposite is true as well.

What defines a spiritual book?

Aren’t all books that reflect natural process and their wisdom spiritual?

What about books that aim to capture a piece of how human life unfolds, and offer this guidance to our little ones, learning what it means to be human? Aren’t they all spiritual?

Aren’t all books about Earth and our interconnectedness with her spiritual?

What about books exploring or offering gratitude, kindness, acceptance, and LOVE?

Many books won’t receive the title of a beyond-religion spiritual book, yet they are… these also include many stories offering us ancestral wisdom, coming from various cultures and traditions.

So… Here is our list… intentionally alphabetically ordered (title).

Do you like one of them? Please comment below!

Can you add additional recommendations to our growing list? Please comment below!

Did you write or illustrate a children’s book with a beyond-religion spiritual intention and would like it to be added to this list? Please add it in the comments below, and as we update this list, we will add your book.

Let’s support the authors of the books we seek :).

And one last thought… thank you to all of you who suggested books. A few years back, I looked for books and found only a few. It’s incredible to see this growth in offerings.

I am grateful.

  1. Can you clarify the ages these are written for? I’m searching for a book on this topic but for 3 year olds. Thanks

    1. Hi. Most of these books are for slightly older ages… I would say some are for 5+ and others possibly also 8+. Some, because of their energy, could be a soft read, although the ideas shared can be understood only at an age-appropriate level.
I would suggest exploring books that share soft experiences and the embrace of nature. If you do find good books appropriate for 3-year-olds, please share them here in the comments, or through my contact page, and I would be happy to add them.
And… my personal approach for 3-year-olds would be to try and offer your own stories… stories coming from your heart to your child’s heart. By nature, these would offer the guidance your child seeks… (you can find a free guide under the resource tab).
      Blessings,
      Efrat
