The extra bite as an invitation to learn precision: A letter to myself

Taking that one extra bite differentiates between being precise and not. A letter to myself – Maybe it will help me remember.

Dear Me,

You just took that extra bite? Why? You know you are going to vomit all over the floor of your hospital room in no more than 10 minutes. Why? I ask and I know the answer. You are testing. How much can you eat? Not eating for over a month made you crave the taste, and food is also a symbol of life.

Over ten years have gone by, so fast, since those days, and that extra bite remains a great lesson. So I wish to ask you to take in less, but I also wish to acknowledge the learnings these extra bites brought.

They are a symbol, a marker, a sign, even today, for what is precise and what is not. In The Promise We Made, I called these moments of alignment – “Soul Moments.”

Our diet has changed a lot since those days of trying to eat everything we enjoyed. We learned what we can eat and what we can’t. There is more on that side: the can’t. And still, when we eat what makes our body feel well, we don’t mind about all that we are so-called “missing.”

Well, until that extra bite, which I do still miss sometimes. And it’s this bite that makes the difference between feeling well after eating, or needing to rest, since I took in more than I can manage.

Yes, you are right. It also plays into other elements of our life. Overloading our doing in that “extra bite” always throws us backward—an invitation to be precise.

So please do me a favor.

Maybe it will make this learning come along faster… before that extra bite. When you are full, just allow one thought to pop in and ask yourself if you need it or not.

We do have a choice, you know. I’ll practice doing the same here, and when we meet, we’ll see what we each managed to do.

How does that sound?

Hugs of light my dear. I trust you.

While writing these Notes (I wish) I Wrote to Myself, I found myself bringing the teachings offered by my parenting journey and Near Death Experience into writing. The result is The Promise We Made: Three Universal Soul Promises We Made to Our Children 🙂

"I found myself starting by sorting the sand grains of my life, the sand grains of my home. My search for a deeper meaning of what LOVE was and of how to bring to my daughters the divine sense of LOVE, acceptance, and joy I felt in my NDE led me to tiny SOUL MOMENTS: specific, distinctive, individual, short moments of alignment. Moments in which the layers of my existence came together, with all my parts connecting, guiding me to walk the deep truth of my soul. My unique way of walking my path in my personal motion."
