Writing is a spiritual path.
The first time we discover that we wrote some sacred words in our notebooks—words that we know did not come from within us—we are either frightened or excited.
We are frightened not because the sacred words carry any negative messages, but because they invite us to look into an internal mirror, acknowledge there is something greater active around us, or because they send a delicate (or not) message directly to our hearts, saying, let’s go. Telling us, it’s time. Time to step into our power.
Words carry power. Words carry energy. And we all must use them with great honor, respect, discernment, and love.
We might get excited about receiving a message. Deep in our hearts, we all wish to walk guided. To hear that inner voice or that of higher guidance directing us. Helping us be present and walk whatever it is that we came to walk. And there is a reason for each one of us being here.
But from whom did these sacred words we just wrote down come? Who is the messenger we are so frightened to hear from or eager to follow? Is it us? Is it our higher self? Is it a higher being? And if so, how do we know who it is? And whether we can trust it?
Writing with guidance is a gift for which we should be immensely grateful.
Channeling?
For me, channeling means speaking or writing a message given to us by someone else. A message heard or felt within our energetic field.
Sacred words can thus confuse. They are beautifully crafted. They sing. They touch our hearts. Yet. Even if they are as higher guidance is, completely positive, loving, and knowing, the source still matters.
As a healer, working primarily with children, I guide children to recognize the frequency of their higher guidance. It does not matter if they visualize it as a power animal or an angelic being. Higher guidance can manifest itself in all forms. Fitting itself to the listener’s ability to perceive.
As writers, we are not only messengers. We are co-creators. Creating with the sacred tool of words. Mediating between worlds.
Knowing our guidance.
Knowing who is transmitting words down through our pen means we can recognize their style and energetic frequency. But there is more.
As humans, we walk a path of choice. A choice between surrendering and doing whatever we wish to do. We either say YES to the path we wished to walk, or take detours because the neighbor’s grass seems greener. Then, we get messages in our writing, and we need to ask who the messenger is. To whose words are we surrendering?
Once we agree to surrender, we surrender to ourselves. To the path we wished to walk. And to writing as one of our tools. Knowing where the messages come from, and recognizing the energetic frequency of our guidance, is not enough.
Once we agree to surrender, we surrender to ourselves.
The step after surrendering is becoming a co-creator.
Co-creation is a huge topic, combined with two words that carry beautiful, energetic frequencies.
As writers, it means we chew on each word that came from somewhere else. We chew on it, digest it, make it ours, and then, only then, hand it to others. We give it from our hearts. Not as words told by higher guidance. Not as sacred words. Not as words of ultimate truth.
We share the words with others in their earthly blessedness. Available. Compassionate. Loving. Literal.
We stand behind each word we share. We walk the words we share. Then, they become truth.
Receiving messages is exciting. Writing with guidance is a gift for which we should be immensely grateful. As writers, we are not only messengers. We are co-creators. Creating with the sacred tool of words. Mediating between worlds.
